Bologna banking on Chelsea delay to steal 15-goal Nigerian striker from Montpellier’s grasp
The former Nigeria youth international has many suitors after an exceptional showing in Norway
Bologna have entered the fierce competition to secure the services of prolific goalscorer Akor Adams, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Norwegian top-flight has witnessed Adams’ astonishing goal-scoring efficiency, with the Nigerian forward netting a remarkable 15 goals in his last 15 league games.
This exceptional performance has caught the eye of numerous clubs across Belgium and France, all eagerly monitoring his rapid rise.
At the forefront of the chase appears to be French Ligue club Montpellier, who seem to have secured an agreement with both Lillestrom and Adams for his imminent transfer.
According to L’Equipe, Montpellier see Adams as the ideal replacement for their star forward, Elye Wahi, who is anticipated to leave the club during this summer transfer window.
However, Wahi’s move away seems to have encountered a hiccup after Chelsea expressed strong interest in the young 20-year-old talent.
Montpellier value him at 30 million euros, but Chelsea are only willing to offer €27.5 million.
Montpellier are reportedly waiting for Chelsea to raise their offer for Wahi before proceeding with the deal.
This protracted negotiation has caused Montpellier’s pursuit of the talented Adams to stall, creating a window of opportunity for Bologna to potentially swoop in and secure the coveted striker for Serie A.
As per Calcioline, Bologna are convinced they can get a deal done for the former Nigeria youth international.
As the transfer saga unfolds, it is worth noting that Akor Adams has a valid contract with Lillestrom, set to expire in December next year.
