Best Graduating Students Get Big Offer At Bowen University

The Bowen University, Iwo, has offered automatic employment to students who performed incredibly in their last nursing professional exams.

Ezenwoko's Blog understands that the excellent students were called out on Thursday, October 21 at the 2nd Nursing Science induction and award ceremony for 39 inductees in the varsity.

Speaking on their commendable efforts that led to the automatic employment, Vice-Chancellor of the university, Joshua Ogunwole, said the five students scored 70 per cent and above in their professional exams.

He noted that the job offer was necessary for others to further motivate the young lads to do better.

The five students given the automatic employment include Abisola Betiku, Abidat Adeagbo-Mustapha; Adedolapo Adekanbi; Joy Aladegbami and Damilola Erinfolami, Ezenwoko's Blog reports.

Conversing with newsmen on the sidelines of their induction ceremony earlier, Ogunwole said the university thought it good to retain its best because of its plan to start a post-graduate programme soon.

He said aside from the employment, the university would give them scholarships for their Masters' programme.

Ogunwole said, “We have them given them automatic employment to retain them. A wise institution should do everything to retain its best. We want to start a Master's programme and they will be among the first set of students.

“We will give them scholarships for Master's and encourage them to go for PhD. It's is not easy to come by PhD in Nursing but that is what Bowen is aiming at.”

On her part, the Head, Department of Nursing, University of Ibadan, Prisca Adejumo, urged the inductees to be technologically literate, saying that would help them a lot to be their best in the 21st Century where they would operate.

She said, “You need to upscale your capacity and join others in finding solutions to the problems of the world. You can't afford not to be combative. You need to collaborate with other professionals.

“You cannot afford to be satisfied with knowing how to operate Microsoft word, you need more than that. Be technologically literate.”

The valedictorian, Adenike Kolade, appreciated the university, the teachers and other staff for impacting their lives as well as their parents.

She said, “Let us demonstrate professionalism in nursing because we are professionals and we should always behave as such.”
