Awoniyi’s home scoring run halted, Onuachu impressive in Genk’s push for Europe

Super Eagles attackers were on parade for their team but couldn’t get on the scoresheet

After scoring in Union Berlin’s last four home games, Taiwo Awoniyi was held by the Greuther Furth defense for 70 minutes and was prevented from scoring.

The attacker was silenced by the Greuther Furth team for the entire duration of his presence on the pitch. He completed just five of his eleven attempted passes and won just one of his five aerial duels in the game.

Union Berlin hope to make a 6th-place finish at the end of the season and qualify for Europe. Their failure to defeat relegation-bound Furth is seen as a major surprise considering the Iron Ones had last week defeated RB Leipzig.

Dickson Abiama featured for 11 minutes for Furth and gave a good account of himself.

Paul Onuachu wasn’t amongst the goals against Mechelen as KRC Genk won 4-2 in their Europe Playoffs game.

The attacker wasn’t on the scoresheet for the 78 minutes he featured in before being replaced by Theo Bongonda who came on to score in the game.

In the Bundesliga 2, Afeez Aremu saw 41 minutes of action for St.Pauli as they continue their pursuit of a promotion ticket to the German top flight.
