Auchi Poly closes over election


The management of the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State, have shut the school in line with the directive of the Federal Ministry of Education.

The decision to close the school along with other polytechnics in the country may not be unconnected with the election coming up Saturday.

A statement by the Acting Registrar, Mrs. F.I. Eshiotse in Auchi and made available to journalists in Benin on Thursday explained that the directive by the Minister of State for Education Mallam Adamu Adamu followed extensive consultations with the relevant security agencies.

The statement, dated February 20, disclosed that the closure takes effect from Wednesday, February 22 while normal academic activities will resume on in March, 2023 adding however, staff who produce essential services are not affected by this closure.

Mrs. Eshiotse noted that students who are resident in the hostels were also expected to vacate the same, not later than 12 noon on Wednesday, 22nd February 2023.
