Anambra Decides: Police Deny Video Of Officers Protesting Non-Payment

The Anambra State police command has denied the viral video of police officers allegedly protesting non-payment for their duty in the governorship election in the state.

Men in the video were spotted chanting songs, while wording accompanying the video claimed that the men are protesting the non-payment of allowances for the election.

The state police command in its reaction noted that its men are in high spirit, and are only chanting victory songs as they await posting to their places of assignments for the election.

The state Deputy Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye said, “The alleged video of police officers protesting for non–payment is not true as portrayed in the clip.

“A careful study of the video shows a group of personnel in high spirit awaiting deployment for the election chanting victory songs.

“The Police Command remains focused and committed to protecting the sanity of the electoral process in Anambra state.”

In another development, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Alkali Usman Baba, has redeployed the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Joseph Egbunike.

Ezenwoko’s Blog recalls that the IGP had deployed Egbunike and the DIG in charge of Operations, Acting DIG Zaki Ahmed, to oversee the security personnel and operations in the Anambra election.

Confirming the news on Friday, the South-East Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Nkeiruka Nwode, said Egbunike was redeployed to another important assignment.
