Alexander-Arnold names Messi best opponent ever

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has named Lionel Messi as his best opponent ever in his professional football career.

Trent made this known in an interview with Goal while responding to a question on who his best-ever contender was.

Responding to the question, the fullback said: “Messi. I don’t know; he is just the best.”

Judging by Messi’s accolades in the game, Alexander-Arnold’s choice should not come as a surprise.

Alexander-Arnold was in the team that was beaten 3-0 at Camp Nou in the UEFA Champions League during Messi’s time at Barcelona.

Liverpool, though, thrashed Messi and Co. 4-0 at Anfield, with Alexander-Arnold’s quick thinking for a Divock Origi goal turning out to be pivotal.
