AFCON 2021: Super Eagles vice captain states target for the game against Sudan
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will be on the pitch in Cameroon again, and they will look to do damage to the Falcons of Jediane
Super Eagles Vice-captain William Troost-Ekong, has stated that he and his teammates will improve on their performance in the game against Egypt and beat the Falcons of Sudan when both sides square off on Saturday.
The Super Eagles go into the fixture with a lot of confidence after the dominant 1-0 victory against Egypt in the first game. And victory against the 1970 Champions would guarantee the Super Eagles a spot in the knockout rounds.
The Sudanese have not done anything of note since their triumph at the 1970 AFCON, and Nigeria are huge favourites going into the tie.
Ahead of the game, Super Eagles defender Troost-Ekong has stated that they will improve on some of their deficiencies in the Egypt game and give a solid performance against the Falcons.
“Expect a very fiery team,” Troost-Ekong said after yesterday’s training session.
“We’ve raised the bar for how we should play for the tournament, and the good thing about tournament football is that you have so many games shortly after each other, but the idea is always to improve on the previous game.”
“There are some things we could do better from the game against Egypt, so we will focus on that,” he added.
The kick-off is set for 5 pm, and the game will be played in the same stadium that Nigeria beat Egypt- Stade Omnisport Roumde Adija.
