Adeleke’s dance of victory

It was a joyful moment for the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, whose election was affirmed by the Supreme Court on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

Shortly after the court ruling, Adeleke said, “We dedicate today’s victory to God. Our governorship is an affirmation that a government of the people, by the people and for the people is possible. I express my heartfelt appreciation to the great people of Osun State. On behalf of my family and party, I say thank you.”

The governor also thanked workers in the state for their support and warm reception. He reassured them of his administration’s commitment to prioritise their welfare, and focus on infrastructural development.

Since the judgment, the governor has been receiving several well-wishers.

On Thursday, he paid a thank you visit to the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji; and the Timi of Ede Land, Oba Munirudeen Lawal. He appreciated the monarchs for their fatherly support and promised not to disappoint the trust the people have in his administration.

Celebrating the court ruling, a popular singer and nephew of the governor, Davido, posted a picture of his uncle with the caption, “We will shock them like high tension.”

The singer also hinted that he will host a concert in the state. He tweeted, “Timeless concert in Osun this year?” To which the governor responded, “Done.”

Recall that Adeleke, of the Peoples Democratic Party, defeated the then incumbent governor, Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress at the polls on July 16, 2022.
