Transfer: Super Falcons Jennifer Echegini in talks with Juventus Women
Echegini was scouted by Coach Randy Waldrum before she was called up to the National team in 2022, and she featured in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Super Falcons midfielder, Jennifer Onyi Echegini is closing in on a move to Italian giants, Juventus Women on a permanent deal, Soccernet.ng reports.
Echegini, 22, was born in the Netherlands and was raised in London, England, but opted to play football for the Super Falcons.
Randy Waldrum and his staff scouted Echegini from the US College circuits, and at only 22 years old, she has established herself as one of the best young midfielders in the country.
Echegini, who has spent the last several years at Florida State University playing in the Collegiate system, is now ready to take the next step and join a professional squad in Europe and has been in talks with Juventus since the summer.
Her move was scheduled to take place last summer but stalled due to her education. According to Juventusnews24, the Turin club have opened talks for the Nigerian ahead of a January transfer move.
Echegini is currently studying Management studies at Florida State University, and will soon complete her studies. As soon as that is done, the Super Falcon will finalize talks with the Old Ladies, and should the move materialize, she’ll be the first Nigerian to play for the club.
Echegini has eight caps for the Nigerian National team and has scored one goal. She featured as a fringe player at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia/New Zealand last summer.
