Transfers: Villarreal and AC Milan resume talks for possible transfer of Nigeria’s Chukwueze
Chukwueze has been heavily linked with a move to Italian Giants AC Milan since the start of this transfer window
Villarreal and AC Milan are set to renew their talks about the transfer of Super Eagles forward, Samuel Chukwueze, Soccernet.ng reports
The 24-year-old, who has a year left on his contract with Villarreal, has been identified as a top target for Milan in this transfer window.
Milan CEO, Furlani, met with Villarreal officials in Italy a few weeks ago to begin talks about a sale of the 24-year-old to Italy, but both parties couldn’t agree on a transfer fee for Chukwueze.
Villarreal are demanding £35m to sell the Nigerian international, despite having one year left on his contract. Milan had seen an initial £25 offer rejected by Villarreal a few weeks ago.
It was reported a few days ago that Milan are also exploring the option of signing Netherlands forward Arnaut Danjuma as an alternative to the 24-year-old.
However, according to Calciomercato, Milan CEO, Furlani, will lead another round of negotiations on Wednesday in Italy to try to convince Villareal to lower their £35m request for Chukwueze’s transfer to Italy.
Chukwueze had an excellent time in Spain last season, notching an impressive 13 goals and providing 11 assists.
The Nigerian International is keen on starting a new challenge in Italy after agreeing on personal terms with Milan some weeks ago, but the transfer fee has been the stumbling block between the two clubs.
