Ishaq Abdulrazak: €800k Super Eagles-eligible star ‘not in the plans’ of RSC Anderlecht

The Nigerian starlet joined RSC Anderlecht from Allsvenskan Professional League side, Norrköping in the 2022 summer transfer window

Nigerian midfielder, Ishaq Abdulrazak, is reportedly not part of RSC Anderlecht’s project for the 2023-24 season campaign, Soccernet.ng reports.

Abdulrazak, born in 2002, joined the Purple and White in 2022 summer transfer window for a fee of €3.00m from Swedish side, Norrköping, and has only played 3 Belgian Pro League games for Anderletch.

In an interview with Belgian journalist Louis Janssen, it was disclosed that Abdulrazak doesn’t fit well within coach Brian Riemer’s tactics, which diminishes his chances of getting significant playing time in the upcoming Belgian Pro League season.

The Nigerian who formerly plays for Unity Academy started his European career, when he joined Norrköping in 2020, and he featured in 54 Allsvenskan Professional League matches scoring twice and making 6 assists.

His limited playing time with the club based in Anderlecht has been a disappointing development for him after moving to Belgium to better his career.

It is suggested that a loan move away from the club this summer would be a good solution for the club, and Abdulrazak’s camp, but there has not been any club showing interest in signing him at the moment.

“He is not in the plans at Anderlecht for this season, mainly because the coach Brian Riemer plays a formation that doesn’t suit him. A loan spell is a good solution for everyone, that way he could get some play time. But no clubs have shown interest for the moment.” Janssen said.

The 34-time Belgian Pro League champions are currently in Australia for their preseason tour, and the 21-year-old has been left out of the squad due to a sickness.

He added: “Anderlecht have gone on a preseason camp in Austria and he stayed home. He came back with a few physical problems and was sick.”

While selling Abdulrazak at this point would be a loss for Anderlecht, considering his potential, the club’s focus may now shift towards exploring loan options to ensure the young talent gains valuable playing time.
