Two-time Bundesliga Champions, Hannover 96, have signed a Nigerian-German defender, Brooklyn Kevin Ezeh, from SV Wehen Wiesbaden, Ezenwoko’s blog.ng reports.

Hannover 96 have signed the German of Nigerian origin from Liga 3 for a fee of about eight hundred thousand euros.

The left-back joined the 3. Liga side just last season from Viktoria Berlin, but his stellar performances, which saw him feature in thirty-five games for his club side, with two goals in the bag, have earned him a move to the former Bundesliga champions.

The 22-year-old, who is eligible to play for the Super Eagles, came through the youth ranks at Hamburg and Schalke 04, before moving away from the Royal Blues in Gelsenkirchen when the assurance of him breaking into the first team wasn’t given.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Hannover’s sporting director, Marcus Mann, said, “With Brooklyn, we have been able to convince and win over one of the most talented and sought-after players in the past third league season. He has an extremely good physique and a strong left foot. He has shown his abilities over the past season and impressively in the relegation games. With Derrick Köhn and Brooklyn, we are extremely well on the left side for the new season.”

Ezeh also expressed his delight after signing for the team and how he cannot wait to play in the Heinz Von Heiden arena; “Hannover 96 has tried to get an extremely good-looking plan for me. Those responsible have shown me that they are pursuing a clear plan with me. I am happy to prove myself in a new league and take the next step in my career. I have already heard many good things from the team and can’t wait to get to know the boys finally.”

Ezeh was born in Hamburg, Germany, but is of Nigerian descent and is yet to represent either Nation on any level internationally, and will be looking to help Hannover 96 reach their goals in the 2. Bundesliga, after they finished 10th last season, and hopefully push towards promotion. They have been relegated from the Bundesliga since 2019.
