Joy short-lived: Super Eagles striker suffers injury after scoring first Serie A goal in 12 months
Udinese have announced that Super Eagles striker Isaac Success has suffered a muscle injury to the rectus femoris of his right thigh following instrumental exams after his team Udinese Calcio’s 3-0 victory over Cremonese on Sunday.
Success had scored his first Serie A goal of the season during the game, which ended in a comfortable win for Udinese at the Dacia Arena.
The Nigerian forward played a key role in the match, helping Udinese take a commanding lead in the first half. Lazar Samardzic scored the opener just two minutes into the game before Nehuen Perez added the second goal with a powerful header from a free-kick taken by Samardzic.
Success then netted the third goal for Udinese in the 36th minute, following a superb pass from Jaka Bijol. The striker made no mistake in dispatching the ball into the net from close range to make it 3-0.
However, his joy was short-lived, as he suffered an injury to his right thigh later in the game. The injury is expected to keep him out of action for some time, according to a statement from the club.
The injury will likely keep Success out of Udinese’s trip to Lecce this weekend. The Nigeria international could also be a major doubt for Udinese’s crunch clash against Victor Osimhen’s Napoli on May 2nd.
Success has been a regular for Udinese this season, making 30 league appearances before the injury. The 27-year-old will now have to undergo rehabilitation to recover from the injury and return to action for the club.
