The Flying Eagles clinched the third position at the AFCON earlier this year, and they would be looking to produce a better performance in Argentina
Nigeria’s Under-20 team, the Flying Eagles will know their opponents for the 2023 FIFA World Cup on Friday Soccernet.ng reports.
The Flying Eagles clinched third place at the last Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt. And that effectively ensured that they qualified for the tournament in Argentina.
The World Cup was initially set to hold in Indonesia, but the world football governing body FIFA moved it to Argentina because of political issues between Indonesia and Israel.
Ahead of the competition which kicks off on May 20, the draw will be held in Zurich, Switzerland on Friday, the 21st of April. There are going to be six groups of four each. The top two teams will qualify from each group accompanied by the best four third-placed teams.
The Flying Eagles are in Pot 3, and this means that they can face teams like Argentina, England, Uruguay, Italy, France, Brazil, Ecuador, and USA.
