Atalanta lost by a score of two goals to zero against AC Milan in their visit to the San Siro stadium.
Atalanta manager, Gian Piero Gasperini, gave some thought to the performance of Nigerian attacker Ademola Lookman following Orobici’s loss to Milan.
The Super Eagles forward’s performance before the World Cup break is something the Italian boss is hoping he can replicate now that the Blue-Blacks are in a dire situation.
The Goddess now occupies the sixth spot in the Serie A standings after playing nine games in the new year and winning four, losing three, and drawing twice.
The Nigerian had a fantastic first half of the season, scoring seven goals and assisting two in the Serie A. However, during the second half of the season, he scored three times with a brace, two in Serie A and one in the Italian Cup.
Nonetheless, considering that he has scored five goals in games played since the World Cup break and has not yet scored since his strike against Sampdoria, the Grugliasco assesses his performance.
“We need goals from everyone. I don’t know if Lookman can repeat the number of goals he scored in the first half of the season, although we hope he will,” he said, as cited by TuttoAtalanta.
The manager urges his team to score more goals after commenting generally on the team’s performance after their 2-nil defeat at the San Siro.
“Hojlund is young and will improve, while the others have so far not contributed as many goals as they should. We hope that they can become decisive in the final stages of the season, otherwise, Atalanta will become too limited,” he added.
The Nerazzurri will play host to Udinese at the Gewiss Stadium on Saturday in an effort to avenge their two straight Serie A defeats.
