Feyenoord businessman wants discussions with club over Dessers’ future

After fans quickly rallied to contribute money through a GoFundMe account for the permanent signing of Cyriel Dessers, a businessman seeks discussion with the club

Fans of Feyenoord had contributed €50,000 for the acquisition of the Super Eagles attacker but were rebuffed by FIFA statutes banning such moves.

Instead, a top Feyenoord businessman and fan of the club, Dennis De Roo has opted to help raise a part of the transfer fee alongside other businessmen.

De Roo is however seeking the club’s efforts before committing to the deal, which he also considers a way to attract more customers to his business.

“As an external party, we do want to contribute,” De Roo told BN DeStem. “No words but deeds. Everyone knows that Feyenoord has no deep pockets.”

“I like to hear what they want and what they can do themselves,”

“We are certainly willing to help. And there are probably more sponsors who are open to raising Feyenoord to a higher level. Let the financial man of Feyenoord Rotterdam NV discuss it with us. I also asked them.”

De Roo added that Dessers always peaks when he’s needed the most.

“Dessers always peaks at the right time. If I can take my customers to a team that will also do well in Europe next year, that’s a lot easier. So buy those Dessers, ” De Roo said.
