Osimhen tipped to beat personal best scoring record at Napoli

Victor Osimhen rose highest to give Napoli the lead at Hellas Verona before choosing another moment to hit a suckerpunch deep into the hearts of the home fans. The celebration of his second goal came in more than a thousand words, as the Nigerian attacker went for the photo-ops to picture the moment.

With his stock rising and as he continues to impress this season with Napoli, Osimhen has been backed to break his personal best scoring return since he got to Europe.

The attacker made a move to VFL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga and faced a tough period in Germany where a malaria bout never made him live up to expectations. He played 14 games in the German top division but never managed to score in the league.

Osimhen moved to the Belgian Pro League where he scored 12 goals in 25 games for Sporting Charleroi. It was in Belgium he found suitors from Northern France where Lille acquired his services for €7m.

After a flourishing season in France where he scored 13 goals and assisted 5 times in the Ligue 1, he joined Napoli in a record transfer for an African. His first season in Naples was blighted with injuries but the attacker had a decent return of 10 goals in 24 games.

This season, the attacker is on course to trump his personal best in Europe, as he has scored 9 goals in 19 games and is backed to score more before the end of the season. With four goals  left to equal his personal mark, the attacker has been backed by Italian journalist, Mario Sconcerti to score at least ten goals more in addition to what he has currently.

“The success of Napoli and Osimhen, the man who will score about ten goals from now to the end, is very important,” Sconcerti said, via TuttoNapoli.

Osimhen has 12 goal contributions in 9 games this season.
