Huesca and Spanish Players’ Union clash over Nwakali
The Super Eagles star has not played a game for the Oscenses Azulgranas since he returned from international duty last month
The Spanish Players’ Union have criticised Huesca for the poor manner with which they have treated Super Eagles star Kelechi Nwakali.
Huesca were irked after Nwakali returned to the club late, seven days after Nigeria was ousted from the Africa Cup of Nations.
On his return, the Super Eagles star explained that the reason for his late return was due to an illness. But his employers were unconvinced with his excuse.
But apparently, the bone of contention is that Nwakali’s contract expires at the end of the season, and Huesca wanted to send him out on loan, but he was not available to finalise the deal before the end of the January transfer window.
Since his return, Nwakali has not kicked a ball for Huesca, as he has been suspended indefinitely. And he could still get sacked.
However, according to Football Espania, the Spanish Players’ Union have come to Nwakali’s aid, stating their displeasure with how the 23-year-old is being treated.
They have accused Huesca of committing procedural breaches in the handling of his case. Nonetheless, with the bad blood between both parties, it is clear that Nwakali will leave the Laliga2 side at the end of the season.
