2023 FIFA WWC: First woman to lead the World Trade Organization urges Super Falcons to aim for victory against Australia
The Super Falcons will aim to make it to the knockout stage of this year’s Women’s World Cup for the third time in their history of the competition
Former Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okojo-Iwela, has encouraged the Super Falcons to strive for victory against Australia in their next game in the ongoing Women’s World Cup, Soccernet.ng reports
On Friday, the Super Falcons held Canada to a goalless draw in their first game at Melbourne Rectangular Stadium in Melbourne.
Nigeria will take on Australia in their next game on Thursday at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, before playing Ireland four days later.
Randy Waldrum’s side is joint second with Canada with one point after both countries had to settle for a draw in their clash, while Australia, on the hand, is occupying the first spot following their hard-fought 1-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland.
The current Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Okojo-Iwela, took to Twitter to heap praises on the team following their impressive draw against Canada and urged them to aim for maximum points against Australia on Thursday.

Nigeria’s match against Australia is slated for 11 am on Thursday. The top two teams will advance to the knockout stage of the competition.
