2023 FIFA World Cup: Super Falcons’ clash excites Priestman, claims her team is ready for challenge

The Super Falcons will open their campaign for this year’s edition of the Women’s World Cup against Canada on the 21st of July at the Rectangular Stadium in Melbourne, Australia 

Canada coach, Brev Priestman has revealed that he is looking forward to their clash against the Super Falcons in their opening game of the 2023 Women’s World Cup, Soccernet.ng reports

The two footballing nations have been drawn to the same group along with Australia and the Republic of Ireland.

The 2023 edition of the tournament is the third time the two teams will be clashing in the World Cup, with the West African side undefeated in the previous two head-to-heads.

They are now set to renew hostility in Group B at the Rectangular Stadium in Melbourne in six days.

Despite the two countries holding impressive appearances in the tournament, neither of them have won the competition before.

The current Olympic champions recently held England to a 0-0 draw in a closed-door preparation match on Friday night.

While speaking after the match, Priestman revealed how she is pleased with her team’s performance and looking forward to their next match against the Super Falcons, she stated

I’m like excited now and let’s get this first game underway at the World Cup.

The Super Falcons also showed their readiness for their clash against the CONCACAF representative by hammering Australian club Queensland Lions FC 8-1 on Saturday morning.

The two teams will hope to take a giant step by securing a victory in their first game of the competition.

Randy Waldrum’s side will play Australia four days after Canada and face Ireland four days.
