18 Choir Members Die in River Accident In Kenya

Eighteen choir members have died while travelling in a 52 seater school bus to a wedding of an elderly couple in Kenya.

The accident had occurred in River Enziu in Kitui on Saturday, December 4.

23 bodies have been recovered so far from the accident and 18 of them were choir members of Mwingi Catholic Church.

A survivor of the accident Simon Kea shared what happened.

He said: “We were about 40 passengers when leaving Mwingi in the morning. Around 10 seats were empty. As we were crossing the river, the 51-seater bus was full with more than 15 people standing.”

Mwingi East Sub County Police Commander Joseph Yakan also revealed that the bus driver had also died.

He said: “This is a river and it was flooding. The driver lost control and slid into a ditch. The bus capsized next to the bridge. The driver has also died. The bus was leaving Mwingi Central towards Nuu in Mwingi East.”

Ezenwoko’s Blog earlier reported that a man from Delta State will be marrying two pregnant women on the same day.

Their wedding invitation had caused a stir on social media, drawing different reactions.

The man, identified as John Erere Nana finally tied the knot with his brides on Saturday, December 4, 2021, in the South-south state.

The women identified as Patience and Elohor, both from the Udu Local Government Area of Delta are both with children. Read more
