₦14 billion or nothing: Gent reject first offer for Gift Orban from newly-crowned Süper Lig champions
Belgian First Division A side KAA Gent have reportedly rejected an initial offer for gifted forward Gift Orban from the newly crowned Süper Lig champions Galatasaray, Soccernet.ng reports.
Anticipating a flurry of bids for Orban this summer, Gent wasted no time dismissing the first proposal, indicating that a breakthrough in negotiations may not occur until August.
Orban, who only joined Gent in January from Stabæk for a fee slightly exceeding three million euros, has proven himself a prolific scorer, netting an impressive 20 goals and contributing two assists in just 21 games. As a result, his value has soared to nearly ten times his original purchase price, as determined by Gent.
Demonstrating their steadfast commitment to the player’s long-term development, KAA Gent have firmly indicated their reluctance to cash in on Orban’s rising stock hastily.
Consequently, an initial email from Galatasaray was promptly discarded, indicating Gent’s uncompromising stance.
According to reports from RMC Sport, as per VoetbalKrant, Galatasaray had hoped to secure Orban’s services and outmaneuver other potential suitors swiftly.
The Turkish powerhouse proposed a season-long loan arrangement with an option to purchase for fifteen million euros. However, Gent has firmly rejected this proposition, refusing to negotiate with Galatasaray on those terms.
Gent have set their sights on a minimum transfer fee of €30 million (₦14 billion) for the talented attacker, firmly establishing their negotiation position.
Prominent European clubs have already begun lining up, eager to deposit substantial sums to acquire Orban’s services.
As the summer transfer window unfolds, the fate of Gift Orban remains uncertain, but KAA Gent remains resolute in pursuing a deal that reflects the player’s immense value to the club.
