Zamfara speaker loses seat to PDP


The Speaker, Zamfara State House of Assembly, Nasiru Muazu Magarya, who contested under the platform of the All Progressives Congress has lost his Zurmi West constituency to PDP candidate, Bilyaminu Ismail of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Announcing the result, the returning officer, Muddasir Ismail Moriki, said, “Speaker Nasiru Muazu Magarya scored 9530 votes, while his opponent of the PDP Ismail Muddasir scored 11213 votes.

He said, “I, Muddasir Ismail, the returning officer of the 2023 Zurmi West State Assembly Constituency election held on March 18, 2023, the election was contested by candidates with the following votes.”

”Mu’azu Nasiru of APC scored 9,530 votes and Isma’il Bilyaminu of PDP scored 11,213 votes.”

“Therefore, Isma’il Bilyaminu of the PDP having satisfied the requirements of the law has been declared elected.”

In a related development, the Deputy speaker of the house, Musa Yankuzo, has also lost his seat to PDP candidate, Bello Maza-waje.

The results of some local government areas are still being awaited.
