World Bank African and African Diaspora Infrastructure Fellows Program 2022

World Bank’s work in infrastructure in particular aims to improve lives by creating inclusion and connecting people to opportunities. We help developing countries address their unique infrastructure needs by building smart infrastructure that supports inclusive and sustainable growth, expands markets, creates job opportunities, promotes competition, and contributes to a cleaner future. The challenges are huge: Globally, 840 million people live more than 2 kilometers from all-weather roads, 1 billion people lack electricity, and 4 billion people lack Internet access. Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals will only be possible if we close these infrastructure gaps, especially in Africa.

To continue to expand the infrastructure team’s impact and value to work on these critical development issues, the World Bank has created a fellowship program dedicated to African and African Diaspora candidates. The program aims to welcomes outstanding candidates who are citizens of Sub-Saharan African countries or those who hold the citizenship of other countries but trace their ancestry to Sub-Saharan Africa, such as African-Americans, Afro-Latin-Americans, Afro-Caribbean, and others.

Requirements:

  • Applicants should be either citizens of Sub-Saharan African countries or those who hold the citizenship of other countries but trace their ancestry to Sub-Saharan Africa, such as African-Americans, Afro-Latin-Americans, Afro-Caribbean, and others.
  • Be a citizen of a World Bank member country
  • Preferably have a master’s degree and minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Be fluent in English
  • Be committed to International Development
  • With Sub-Saharan Africa or of African descent such as African Americans, Afro-Latin Americans, and others
  • Applicants should describe in their cover letter how they meet the requirements of the A&AD Infrastructure Fellows Program.
  • There is no specific age limit established however the INF AAD Fellows Program is designed for young professionals such as recent graduates, preferably with a master’s degree and a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience
