Villarreal to win with a second-half flourish
Villarreal got their first win in five games last weekend, but it was worth waiting for – a 5-3 victory in Barcelona. This triumph has made them a hot favourite to be the winner of this fixture, with odds of 1.65 too short to add to my tips.
When we look at the stats, Cádiz have not won any of their last 18 La Liga fixtures. The Andalusians have managed to score just one goal in the second half of their away league matches this season. Hence, taking the hosts to win the second half considerably boosts the odds to 1.96. Cádiz have lost the second 45 in eight of their 11 La Liga road trips this term.
Bet 1: Villarreal to win the second half @ 1.96 with Bet9ja
Attack the best form of defence, so expect goals
As shown in the victory against Barcelona, Villarreal have no issues in attack. Gerard Moreno and Alexander Sorloth have formed a lethal partnership and already have 18 goals between them. As a result, the hosts have failed to score in just one home league match.
Their problems are at the other end of the pitch, where they have only kept two clean sheets all season. The last came in September. This will give hope to a struggling Cadiz side, who are yet to keep a clean sheet on the road.
Given those defensive issues and the fact there have been over 2.5 goals scored in six of Villarreal’s last seven games, I’m siding with a match rich in goals.
Bet 2: GG & Over 2.5 goals in Goal/No Goal & Over/Under @ 2.16
Say yes to more goals for Moreno
As already mentioned, Gerard Moreno has netted 10 league goals for Villarreal this season in just 19 appearances. Looking at the head-to-head data, he last scored against Cadiz in 2021, so he will want to fix that here.
Although I wouldn’t put you off backing the 31-year-old to get on the scoresheet, I am taking him to have over 1.5 shots on target. Settled by OPTA, a shot on target means he needs to score or at least force the keeper to make a save.
He has compiled 17 shots on target across the season, with at least two in five of his last 12 starts, including both of his last two. Cadiz have conceded 107 shots on target, with only four sides conceding more in La Liga.
Bet 3: Gerard Moreno Over 1.5 Shots on Target @ 2.20 with bet365
Feisty affair on the cards
As my last prediction, I am delving into the cards market. Looking at the most recent head-to-head, we can see Villarreal were shown four yellow cards. Alfonso Pedraza received a straight red card after head-butting Iván Alejo.
Villarreal have seen at least three cards in four of the last six meetings between the sides. Also, they were shown a minimum of three cards in six of their last eight fixtures across all venues and competitions.
Bet 4: Villarreal Cards Over 2.5 @ 2.00 with bet365
