The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA), Professor Charles Soludo has been declared winner in 17 out of 21 local government election results so far declared in Anambra State.
The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) with the development, is moving closer to being officially declared as the winner of the 2021 Anambra governorship election.
Soludo has steadily extended his lead over other candidates as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continues to announce the results of Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra.
So far, the APGA candidate has won in Dunukofia, Awka North, Awka South, Oyi, Ayamelum, Anaocha, Anambra East, Idemili North, Idemili South, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Njikoka, Nnewi South, Anambra West, Aguata, Orumba South and Ekwusigo local government areas.
The governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), Ifeanyi Uba, and Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have won one LGA each while the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Andy Uba is yet to win any LGA.
The Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts has refuted claims that the lawmakers are being pressured to assent to fresh borrowing plans of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government.
Ezenwoko’s Blog understands that there have been insinuations that the panel was under pressure to approve the borrowing plans despite the inability of some agencies to convincingly defend their proposals.
However, while attending to questions from journalists on Sunday, the chairman of the panel, Clifford Ordia, faulted the claims.
He noted that his panel was being careful with the submitted documents before a decision is taken in favour or against the president’s request.
Ordia also noted that heads of some federal ministries, departments and agencies which hitherto failed to appear before the committee had been coming to defend their borrowing proposals.
The Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore has taken a position on the zoning of the 2023 presidential ticket.
According to it, zoning is not a democratic process and should not be a factor in deciding the person who takes over from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
The Bauchi State Chapter of the group made the submission on Sunday through its chairman, Alhaji Sadik Ibrahim Ahmad.
Also, the group urged the federal government to heed calls from several quarters and declare bandits as terrorists, noting that declaring the bandits as terrorists is the right thing for the government to do in order to curb the ugly trend of insecurity.
The Returning Officer for Orumba North Local Government Area in the 2021 Anambra governorship election, Dr. Michael Otu has alleged that thugs manhandled him and forced him to sign a fake election result.
Otu made the revelation on Sunday at the State Collation Centre located at the INEC headquarter office in Awka, the state capital.
According to him, he signed a fake result sheet under duress after the hoodlums teargassed him and mutilated the original result sheets.
He accused the Polling Officer, Comfort Omoroge of compromise in the polls.
However, Omoroge in her reaction, denied compromising the election, stating that Otu is an ignorant and confused person who doesn’t know the difference between casting of vote and collation of results.
Orumba is one of the two LGAs whose result is yet to be declared by INEC after Saturday’s election.
The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF has maintained that no individual vying for the position of presidency come 2023, and is above the age of 50s will get a vote from them.
Ezenwoko’s Blog reports that the Northern region socio-cultural group made the declaration in a statement by its president, Yerima Shettima.
Yerima who spoke with reporters on Saturday, November 6, said the Nigerians, the youths particularly are tired of the same old folks switching political parties to govern the country without making positive impacts.
He explained further that there is ongoing sensitization of the young generation to decline to campaign for any candidate above the age of 60. Yerima said the youths are ready to take over the leadership of the nation.
Two people have reportedly died in Bauchi State in an accident involving the vehicle of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
The incident according to reports, occurred when a patrol vehicle of the paramilitary agency rammed into a shop in Alkaleri, the headquarters of Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state on Sunday, November 7.
A woman and a child all yet to be identified reportedly died in the disturbing event, while others sustained varying degrees of injuries, Ezenwoko’s Blog understands.
The driver of the patrol vehicle with the registration number, A01732RS, was said to have lost control and rammed into a shop opposite the Alkaleri Central Motor Park, on the Bauchi-Gombe highway at about 12:45 pm today.

Bandit terrorists have shot dead two worshippers out of the sixty-six people who were abducted from Emmanuel Baptist Church, Kakau Daji, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna.
Recall that the terrorists invaded the church exactly a week ago, killing a worshipper, while others were abducted.
A source that spoke with Daily Trust disclosed that the bandits requested for bags of rice and gallons of groundnut oil to feed the victims.
It was reported that the terrorists asked the victims relatives to attend to the request if they don’t want them to starve.
