Good morning Nigeria, welcome to Ezenwoko's Blog roundup of top newspaper headlines in Nigeria for today Saturday, 13th November 2021.
One of the few places in Nigeria where the badge for corruption and debasement must never be worn is at foreign visitors' major gateway into the country. This, unfortunately, is not to be as underhand dealings at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos has brandished the shame of a nation. A YouTube video trended online early this week where an American blogger by the name Sabbatical narrated his experience at the hands of corrupt officials at MMIA when he visited Nigeria.
In the content shared with his over 70k subscribers, the popular blogger narrated, “I've been around the world and I have never seen an airport as insane as this one you have in Lagos. It is extremely corrupt. Picture corrupt. The Nigerian airport in Lagos is that very definition of corruption that will pop up in the dictionary. Coming in, you don't want to wait in line for your Covid test, pay this guy. You don't want to have your bags checked, pay this guy… Oh my God. It is very stressful and draining here.”
If this were to be an isolated case, Sabbatical will not be taken seriously. There have been numerous reports of shenanigans at the Lagos international airport. Barely a week prior to the latest video, there was the super-viral video of an African-American lady, Alina, who said she was delayed for two hours by officials who claimed that her PCR Covid-19 test certificate was not genuine. Despite telling them that the test was conducted at a lab listed on the portal, the despicable officials refused to scan the QR code on the form and demanded she pays N25,000 before getting a pass!
The Interpol section of the Nigeria Police Force has declared a Nigerian businesswoman, Munachim Onyia wanted following her involvement in N5.3 billion investment fraud.

It was gathered that Onyia also ran IBC Africa, an investment firm, and the eponymous Muna Investment, a Ponzi scheme through which she allegedly defrauded investors.
The Lagos Division of the Federal High Court issued an arrest warrant for Onyia, stating that she is wanted for obtaining money under false pretence and pretending to be a staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

In a statement to newsmen on Friday, Police Public Relations Officer, CP Frank Mba: “Henry's movement was trailed up to BJ Gardens located somewhere in Garki close to old CBN. A young lady that had an interaction with him on the night of disappearance was located, and detectives spoke to her. From that point, investigators expanded their investigation by working on different suppositions and hypotheses.
“A breakthrough was, however, made when following some digital and forensic leads. His phone, an iPhone 6 that had already been smashed into pieces was trailed and found in a garage somewhere in Mpape called the ‘Good Friends' garage”

Libya has overtaken Nigeria as the biggest producer of crude oil in Africa based on the latest report by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
Before overtaking Nigeria, Libya had previously leapfrogged Angola into second place but has now overtaken Nigeria as well to claim the status of Africa's largest oil-producing country.
The OPEC report released on Wednesday showed that Nigeria's oil production reduced to about 1.23 million barrels per day in October from about 1.25 million barrels per day in September.
However, for Libya, its production increased from 1.16 million barrels per day in September to 1.24 million barrels per day in October.

The palliative according to the government is to relieve citizens from the effect of fuel subsidy removal.

The Ekiti State Governor and Chairman, Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), Kayode Fayemi has challenged the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) to allow the law to run its course over the move to pay some private consultants on the Paris Club Refund money.
The Governor who insisted that the issue of the $418 been claimed by the consultants in the Paris Club Refund is already before the court, wondered why the Minister of Justice wants to effect the payment in a rush without waiting for the pronouncement of the court.
Fayemi argued further during his Thursday appearance on Arise TV that the consultants are only out to fleece Nigerians.
He said the claims by the consultants are fraudulent while those advising President Muhammadu Buhari on the matter are majorly misleading him.
