Tinubu Replies Atiku For Mocking Him Over ‘Place Holder’ Running Mate

All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential flagbearer, Bola Tinubu has replied to his counterpart in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, for mocking him over his ‘placeholder” running mate ahead of the 2023 election.

Ezenwoko’s Blog recalls that Atiku chose Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as his running mate while some presidential candidates submitted placeholders as running mates.

In a statement he personally signed on Sunday, Atiku said that his choice of Okowa as his running mate shows that he is prepared to govern the country.

He stated that the first and most important decision that any candidate for an executive position in a democracy must make is the choice of a running mate.

Atiku added that the presidential candidate’s choice of a running mate provides a window to assess his or her preparedness for the job that potentially waits ahead of them

“The office of the presidency needs someone who has the clarity to make decisions without hesitation.”

“In developed democratic countries, the process and picking of a running mate by a presidential candidate is a step to understanding the capacity of a candidate and his capability to do the job”

Reacting through his spokesman, Tunde Rahman, the APC Presidential flagbearer told BBC that the PDP should focus more on resolving its internal crisis.

“The PDP should pay attention to resolving their internal crisis, they failed to fulfill all their internal promises.

“They should stop the propaganda campaign on Muslim-Muslim ticket, amongst others,” Tinubu’s spokesman said.
