Tinubu: Adamu Speaks On Decision To Choose ‘Dummy’ Running Mate

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu, said the decision to choose a temporary running mate was done after careful legal consultation.

Ezenwoko’s Blog had reported that the Presidential candidate of the ruling party, Bola Tinubu, had chosen Kabir Masari as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election.

It was learned that Tinubu submitted Masari’s name in order to beat the deadline stipulated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for presidential flagbearers to submit the names of their running mates.

In a chat with State House correspondents on Monday, Adamu dismissed the speculations that Masari was a temporary running mate to Tinubu.

The APC national chairman made this know to reporters after accompanying the EkitiGovernor-elect, Biodun Oyebanji, on a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari.

He stated that Tinubu has not done anything with regards to returning his forms that is not within the confines of the Nigerian constitution.

“We are not in the speculative world. We are governed by the laws of the land. There’s nothing our presidential candidate has done with regards to returning his forms that is not within the confines of the law of the land.

“Everything we’ve done so far, we have done very carefully with legal consultation and we are cocksure, we’re not going to have the kind of speculation that you are professing at this point in time.

“We’re very comfortable with what we have done. It is still pessimism. However, not in that school of thought yet. We don’t have to be there,” Adamu said.

Speaking on the just concluded Ekiti governorship election, Adamu denied the allegation that the ruling party was involved in vote-buying and other electoral malpractices.

He affirmed that the allegation of vote-buying was being sponsored by aggrieved politicians who lost at the just concluded poll.

Adamu appealed to the media to avoid reporting negative issues about the country’s polls.

He said: “I just want to add a word or two in the response of our governor-elect on the issue of vote-buying. As a patriotic Nigerian that is privileged to lead the ruling party in this country today, I want to only appeal to the media. Please don’t partake in portraying negative attitudes in our processes,” he said.

“If you do so, you are compromising. I’m sorry to say so. You’re compromising the integrity of our process as a country.”
