More escaped inmates of the Kuje Medium Correctional Center have been re-arrested and returned to the facility.

Recall that the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists had on Tuesday night invaded the prison facility and released not less than 600 prisoners.

The terrorists with the aid of explosive devices gained entrance into the facility and shot their way through the part of the building where their members were held.

Ezenwoko’s Blog reports that a total of 879 inmates escaped from the facility during the attack with about 70 of them suspected members of the Boko Haram terrorist group.

In a statement on Thursday by his media aide, Sola Fasure, the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, said that more than 400 of them have been brought in and more are still coming.

Aregbesola asserted that security personnel are combing the whole area, up to a distance of 100 kilometres radius, looking for the escaped inmates.

However, in an interview with Daily Trust, a security source, who craved anonymity, said the escaped inmates were re-arrested in the Kwali area of the FCT and the surrounding villages.

According to the source, the escaped inmates were recaptured with help of vigilantes, local hunters and farmers in the villages.

The security official added that the recapture of the escaped inmates was coordinated by men of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies.
