Senate President Seeks NBA Input In Ongoing Constitutional Amendments, Urges Tinkering With Outdated Laws

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has called on the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to collaborate with the National Assembly in the ongoing review process of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

Senator Akpabio made the call when he received the national leadership of the NBA on a courtesy call in his office in Abuja on Thursday. Akpabio said he was delighted by the visit and noted that the National Assembly can benefit greatly from the inputs of the lawyers.

The Senate President also called on the leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association to weed out quacks from its midst in a bid to protect the integrity of the profession.

“There are so many law schools these days. We might not be able to see it the way it use to be. As a lawyer, you must be learned both in terms of education and character.
