Security Operatives Rescue Suspected Criminals From Mob Action

Some members of a vigilante group in Otukpo town, Benue state has averted jungle justice after rescuing two suspected criminals from a group of angry mob.

Ezenwoko’s Blog reports that the incident occurred on Thursday,10th March 2022.

It was gathered that the suspects identified as Odeh and Okpekwu were caught red handed during a breaking and entering operation around Perfect Avenue of the town.

They were about to be lynched to death by the mob before some members of vigilante in the area came to their rescue.

It was learnt that the vigilantes took the suspected criminals away and handed them over to the Police.

In other news, over seven Officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency recently sustained various degrees of injuries in the process of arresting a notorious drug dealer, Micha Godwin.

According to NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, the drug dealer was arrested at Nukai Market, along Jalingo-Wukari Road in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.

Babafemi noted that seven anti-narcotic officers were left injured after they came under attack during the operation.

He said, “Despite the attack, the officers, however, managed to arrest their target after recovering some quantities of illicit drugs from the suspect and thereafter retreated to take the wounded to the hospital for treatment.

Following intelligence, the operatives on Tuesday 8th March stormed the market at about 2.30pm to arrest the drug dealer and evacuate illicit substances in his warehouse. Soon after the arrest of Micha, miscreants mobilised from the community to attack the officers and vehicles with dangerous weapons.

“A reinforcement from the state Command of the Agency and other security agencies was able to move in to rescue the operatives from the scene of the attack.
