Police parade apprentice for alleged kidnapping, killing of his boss’ son
No fewer than four suspects have been paraded by the Gombe State Police command over the murder of 16-year-old Alamin Ahmadu.
The suspects include 25-year-old Ahmadu Ibrahim and 35-year-old Babuka Abubakar.
Others are Abdulsalam Mohammed, aged 28 years, and Muhammadu Abubakar, aged 28 years, all of Liji quarters in Yalmatu Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State.
Parading the suspects on Friday, the Public Relations Officer ASP Mahid Abubakar, said the anti-kidnapping squad received a formal complaint from Ahmadu Yaya, the deceased father of Arawa quarters, that some unknown persons called and informed him that they kidnapped his son and demanded the sum of N5millon as ransom.
According to Abubakar, Yaya also revealed that his son Alamin was a student of Ubaida Academy Arawa who left home for an errand, adding that he did not return up till the moment he received the call demanding N5 million ransom.
He said, “On receipt of the complaint, the anti-kidnapping unit led by the O/C Anti Kidnapping swung into action and succeeded in arresting the suspects and immediately commenced an investigation. Further investigation revealed that one of the suspects by name Ahmadu Ibrahim, who works at a rice mill company under the father of the victim was the mastermind behind the kidnapped of the victim.
“The suspect confessed to having kidnapped the 17-year-old Alamin and taken him to Lijji Hill but later confirmed to have killed him following the failure of his father to pay the ransom of N700,000 naira as earlier agreed through phone negotiation, Suspects are under our custody and will be charged to court for prosecution.”
