Police launch manhunt for killers of A’Ibom woman
There is tension and anxiety in some parts of Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, following the gruesome murder of a woman by some unknown persons.
The woman (name withheld) was beheaded on Sunday night around the banking layout, Udo Udoma Avenue in the Uyo area of the state, where she had lived and farmed before she met her untimely death.
Sources told our correspondent on Tuesday that her lifeless body was found on Monday, with her severed head by the side of her body.
“We were shocked on Monday morning when we came to work and found the corpse lying close to our entrance,” a source who spoke on condition of anonymity said on Tuesday.
“The deceased cultivated a piece of land around the banking layout and lived within the farm,” another source said.
The Public Relations Officer, Akwa Ibom State Police Command, Odiko Macdon, while confirming the development to journalists on Tuesday, said the command has launched a manhunt for her killers.
He added that the state Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durosinmi, vowed that nothing would be spared to ensure that perpetrators are brought to book
He said, “Yes, the command has received a report of the incident and the state Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durusimmi, has ordered an investigation into the incident.
“The commissioner has vowed that nothing will be spared to fish out the perpetrators of this dastardly crime.
“We assure Akwa Ibom people that the perpetrators of the dastardly act will be brought to book.”
