Police hunt abductors of Nasarawa deputy gov’s driver


Gunmen have kidnapped one Daniel Ogoshi said to be the driver of the Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe.

PUNCH Metro gathered that policemen are currently on the trail of the abductors.

Our correspondent gathered that Ogoshi was abducted from the residence of his friend at Ombi 2, College of Agriculture, Kwandere Road, Lafia, the state capital on Tuesday around 9.30 pm.

His mobile and car were said to have been left behind by his abductors.

A family friend of the victim, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent, said he received a call around 9pm that his brother had been taken away by the kidnappers.

He said he immediately alerted policemen who rushed to the scene, but unfortunately, the kidnappers had already fled with the victim.

The deputy governor’s media aide, Chris Ehima, confirmed the incident.

He however said he had yet to get the full details of what happened.

He promised that the state government would do everything possible to secure the release of the kidnapped driver.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, also confirmed the incident.

He said the police were on top of the matter but he could not provide further details.

The spate of abductions has been on the rise in the state lately.

A former deputy governor of the state, Prof Onje Gye-Wado, was recently kidnapped and released after N4m ransom was paid to his abductors.
