Police fume as bandits kill 10 Taraba farmers


The Taraba State Police Command has vowed to fish out and prosecute the bandits who killed 10 farmers in the state, Sunday PUNCH reports.

The incident was said to have happened on Friday while the farmers were working on their farms.

The 10 farmers who were said to be indigenes of Nyicwu village in the Yangtu Development Area of Takum Local Government Area, Taraba State, have been killed in a surprise attack by suspected armed bandits.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Usman, who confirmed the incident to Sunday PUNCH, said the assailants escaped immediately after the attack.

He also added that the incident was said to have occurred around 7 am on Friday and was reported two hours later.

The PPRO said, “There is a joint operation with the Police and other forces to comb out the perpetrators of this act, it was a surprise attack, they fired sporadically, unfortunately, these victims were caught in the firing zone and they were used as soft targets.”

 “No arrest has been made by the command yet but the command will comb out all criminals in the state.”
