Police arraign teenager for stealing N2.3m batteries
The Police on Monday arraigned 18-year-old Adamu Hama before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 50 cartons of different types of motor batteries valued at N2,370,600.
The defendant is facing two counts of conspiracy and stealing preferred against him by the police.
Hama was charged before the magistrate, Mr Martins Ewumi.
The prosecutor, Inspector Ajaga Agboko, told the court that the defendant and others now at large committed the offences on December 27, 2023
Agboko said the incident took place at Dosumu Street Idumota, Lagos Island.
He said the property that was stolen belonged to one Muritala Jimoh.
According to the prosecutor, the offences committed contravened Sections 411, 280 (1), and 287 (5) (a) (b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.
Magistrate Ewumi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned till January 16, 2024, for mention.
