Osun Govt Rescues 7-Year-Old Girl Abused, Abandoned By Her Aunt

Osun State government on Thursday, December 9 rescued a seven-year-old girl wickedly treated by her aunt who has been acting as her foster parent.

Ezenwoko’s Blog understands that the rescue mission was carried out in Osogbo, the state capital by officials of the State Ministry of Women, Children and Social Affairs in collaboration with men of the Nigeria Police in the state.

Giving details of the rescue mission, the Commissioner, Barrister Olabukola Olaboopo said the girl (name withheld), was found in a very disgusting state.

According to her, the girl was found at her aunt’s residence and that their findings revealed the girl was being fed only once a week.

Olaboopo explained further that the child was abandoned in the backyard of the house in an environment likened to a refuse dump. She revealed that the girl was found in a weakened state, adding that she had become skinny, too weak to stand and with broken bones.

While appreciating the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Police for their support and commitment, the commissioner assured that the ministry would continue to uphold the rights and protect all children in the state under every circumstance.

She also explained that the state government has taken custody and had promised to shelter, educate, feed and take care of the girl’s health.
