One injured as  trucks collide in Lagos, LASTMA blames speeding


A yet-to-be-identified man was injured in a car crash that happened around 5 pm in the outward Apapa area of Lagos State on Sunday.

The accident involved two trucks that collided, leaving the two vehicles badly damaged.

A video of the crash on the official X handle of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority showed the vehicles with the windscreen of one of them completely damaged.

Speaking in an interview with PUNCH Online, the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed the accident while adding that the truck with number plate T382-LA rammed into another truck as a result of overspeeding.

Taofiq said, “It happened at outward Apapa, which involved a  truck. The vehicle was overspeeding and, as a result, lost control and ran into another truck. The registration number of the truck is T382-LA. It ran into another moving truck ahead of it. As a result, LASTMA personnel, noticing the accident, quickly intervened and saved the driver.”

He added that the driver sustained an injury on his left leg and was immediately rushed to the Apapa General Hospital for treatment.

“The driver sustained a very serious injury on his left leg and he was rushed to Apapa General Hospital with the support of policemen from Area B Police Command in Apapa. Immediately, the LASTMA personnel got a towing vehicle to remove the truck from the road.” Taofiq added.
