Nigeria will enjoy new naira policy in long run

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Dr Victor Oye, has urged Nigerians to exercise restraints in the face of the hardship generated by the redesign of the old Naira notes.

The APGA boss, who observed that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), might not have meant ‘suffering’ for the citizenry, enjoined Nigerians to patiently flow with the current economic tide, “Because it will signal good for Nigerians in the long run”.

He stated this in an exclusive interview with Saturday PUNCH, on Friday.

According to him, “For me, we have already suffered it enough and I think there’s nothing wrong with it if we suffer once and achieve the best for this country.

“Yes, the hardship is much; but the President may not have meant such (suffering) for the masses of this country. I think he meant well for Nigerians, but not many will understand it. And so, I urge Nigerians to exercise a little patience in the face of this crisis. It’s going to be for the good of this country, in the long run.”

He further commended the nation’s judiciary, saying the sector had relatively done well in the discharge of its duties.

He said, “No matter how one looks at it, the Nigerian judiciary remains the last hope of the common man. All I can tell the judiciary is for it to continually do what it needs to do for Nigerians to always repose confidence in it. That’s all.”
