Nigeria not a failed state — Jega
Nigeria not a failed state — Jega
The former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, has said that Nigeria is not yet a “failed” state but a “failing” state.
To rescue the country before it becomes a failed state, Jega said that something urgent must be done to restructure the country before the 2027 general elections.
The ex-INEC chairman made this distinction at the maiden convocation of the Bauchi State University, Gadau.
While clarifying the reasons for his calls for the restructuring of the country before 2027, he insisted that Nigeria would be considered a failed state only if it did not provide for the security, welfare, and basic needs of its citizens.
