Nigeria In A Mess Under Buhari – Says Soyinka

Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka has described the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari as a mess considering the current state of the nation.

Ezenwoko’s Blog understands that the novelist stated this at a press conference at Freedom Park, Lagos State on Thursday, October 28.

According to him, the government is lacking in the ability to provide solutions to the challenges confronting the country.

Soyinka reiterates that Nigeria was fast disintegrating under President Buhari, urging Nigerians against looking up to the government for solutions facing the country.

The problem here is that the government does not have a holistic grasp of the problems in Nigeria. If we are looking to this government for a solution, then it means we are lost,” Soyinka noted.

The playwright added: “We are in a mess. This country is in a mess. It is disintegrating before our very eyes. This government is floundering.”

Soyinka is optimistic that the solution to Nigeria’s challenges is a Sovereign National Conference. He admonished various ethnic groups in Nigeria to come together and chart a way towards their mutual coexistence.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that Nigerians have stopped praying and trusting God for a better country.

Ezenwoko’s Blog reports that the president revealed this at the 11th National Prayer Breakfast organized by the Christian Legislators Fellowship of the National Assembly with the theme “Faith in a time of crisis.”

The president, represented by the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Dr. Maurice Mbaeri, revealed that there is hope for Nigeria, but some Nigerian have stopped praying to God and instead are now playing God.

The president stated that some Nigerians are questioning God’s ability to solve the present crisis in the economy.
