Man Stabs Friend To Death Over N1,500 Loan In Adamawa

A young man identified as Aliyu Hammanseyo in Adamawa State has landed himself in trouble after admitting to stabbing his friend with a knife over a N1,500 debt.

The suspect who resides in a community in the Mubi North Local Government Area of the state was engaged in a verbal altercation with his friend after the latter demanded a refund of the money he loaned him.

Instead of refunding the money he borrowed, Hammanseyo reportedly attacked Bilham Babangida with a knife in the chest.

Ezenwoko’s Blog understands that the suspect was arraigned before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Yola.

The police prosecutor, ASP Francis Audu, who read the charge sheet before Magistrate Muhammed Abubakar, said Hammanseyo stabbed the victim, Bilham Babangida, with a knife, which resulted in the death of the latter on June 7, 2022.

He said the defendant has acknowledged the charges against him during an interrogation. The prosecutor pleaded with the court to remand Hammanseyo.

The Chief Magistrate, however, adjourned the case till July 14, 2022, and ordered that the defendant be remanded.

Meanwhile, a judge at an Upper Sharia Court in Kaduna State, Malam Dahiru Lawal Abubakar has been declared dead.

The deceased Ezenwoko’s Blog understands was the Chief Imam of Maiduguri Road Juma’at Mosque in Kaduna.

The cleric according to reports died on Wednesday morning at the age of 52 after battling an undisclosed illness for some days.

It was reported that Abubakar who resided in Makarfi Local Government Area of the state was being treated earlier at the 44 Army Reference Hospital before he gave up the ghost this morning.

The deceased was one of the sons of a late renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Lawal Abubakar, and an older brother to a former editor of Daily Trust Editor newspaper, Malam Nasiru Lawal Abubakar, Ezenwoko’s Blog understands.
