A man has been apprehended in Ikorodu for being in possession of fresh body parts.
The suspect identified as Sikiru Kolawole was taken into custody by the Sagamu Road Police Division.
The Spokesman of the Lagos Police Command, Mr Adekunle Ajisebutu stated that Sikiru was found with human hands, skull and intestine from Ojokoro cemetery in Ikorodu.
He said: “The Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID) at Panti, Yaba, for diligent investigation and prosecution.”
Mr Narudeen Lawal, a local guard revealed how he got into a fight with the suspect while trying to stop him from carting away the human body parts. He stated that they were finally successful around 1:30am
“We carry out surveillance round the cemetery at least three to four times in a shift to observe the surroundings.
“Suddenly, we started hearing some funny sound, on getting there we saw the suspect with a sack loaded so we challenged him on how he got in and his mission at the cemetery.”
During questioning the guard stated they had to force him to open the sack he was found with so they could see the contents but he refused and got into combat with them.
They later took him to the police station for further investigation.
“Subsequently, we grabbed and took him to the police station with the human parts for further interrogation,” Lawal said.
