LP expels Plateau chieftain over anti-party activities
The Labour Party in Plateau State has expelled one of its chieftains, Abdullahi Adamu, for allegedly engaging in anti-party activities.
Adamu was one of the aspirants for the Plateau North Senatorial district during the 2023 general elections.
His expulsion was contained in a letter jointly signed by the state chairman of the party, Grace Zamfara, and the State party Secretary, Bulus Kaze, and was made available to journalists on Sunday in Jos.
It was learned that Adamu had an agreement with Gyang Zi, who eventually became the candidate of the party for Plateau North Senatorial District in the last General polls.
Adamu, who earlier had the ticket of the party to run for the Senate seat for Plateau North, later agreed to be replaced by Zi.
However, with the latest judgment of the Appeal Court that ordered a re-run in Plateau North, Adamu is now claiming to be the authentic candidate of the party, insisting that his name has been on the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The Labour Party in the expulsion letter, however, accused Adamu of hobnobbing with the opposition to create unnecessary conflict within the party, hence the decision to expel him.
It stated that the expulsion followed a thorough investigation, adding that Adamu was later found wanting of the allegations against him, particularly working against the interest of the party.
”The leadership of the party has been following your anti-party activities which include colluding with the opponents against the interest of the party.
”You have been circulating false information about Gyang Zi, our candidate for Plateau North in the last general elections and the forthcoming rerun elections.
”Your action is a gross misconduct and you are hereby expelled forthwith from the party,” the letter stated.
