Atiku: “It's Very Selfish, Wrong, And Bad For Politics” – PDP Chieftain Knocks Wike

A former Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly, Matthew Iduoriyekemwen has knocked the decision of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike not to support the campaigns of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Iduoriyekemwen in his submission stated that Wike's action is unbecoming of a leader and politician of his calibre, arguing that the Rivers Governor had made his stand known and should have left the stage when the ovation was loudest.

The Edo State politician added that the PDP has always given Wike the platform to actualize his political ambitions and the first time a ticket he wants would go to another person, the Governor wants to tear the party apart.

Wike and his loyalists including some state governors had vowed not to participate in Atiku's presidential campaigns except Iyorchia Ayu resigns as the PDP national chairman.

They argued that Atiku's emergence as the PDP flagbearer has put the major leadership positions in the north which negates the principle of justice and fairness.

Wike Is Selfish
However, asked about the development and how it would affect the fortunes of the PDP in 2023, Iduoriyekemwen during an interview with Punch blamed Wike for the crisis which he described as unnecessary.

He questioned Wike's action saying it was probably because he lost the PDP presidential ticket.

The former Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly who is now a senatorial candidate for his party stated in the Punch interview that he doesn't believe the emergence of Peter Obi and the Obidient Movement is any point of concern for the PDP in its traditional South-South and South East strongholds.

PDP: Unlike the APC, We Can Boast Of Our 16 Years Rule Record

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has claimed that unlike the All Progressives Congress (APC) which is running away from campaigning with President Muhammadu Buhari's achievements because it plunged Nigerians into deeper hunger and poverty, it is proud of its records.

According to the PDP in a statement by its Presidential Campaign Spokesman, Charles Aniagwu, unlike the APC which has nothing to show, it is very proud of running on records achieved during its 16 years of rule.

He noted that the PDP's 16 years record is attractive enough to run on because things were much better in 2015 than they are now.

Aniagwu also bemoaned the APC for allegedly destroying the structures the PDP put in place, prior to 2015 when the party took over the reins of governance.

The party said the APC's Presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu's handlers were always referring to Lagos in their campaigns because the party had failed Nigerians on their campaign promises.

Nwajiuba in the suit filed through their lawyer, Okere Nnamdi alleged that the primary that produced Tinubu as the APC's 2023 presidential candidate was tainted by corruption and widespread vote buying.

He insisted that the majority of the delegates were bought over with dollars.

The likes of former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo who congratulated Tinubu have remained silent on his ambition.
