Lagos police arrest two notorious traffic robbers

Two notorious traffic robbers have been arrested in the Orile-Iganmu areas of Lagos State.

PUNCH Online learnt that the arrest was made after a tip-off by members of the public.

A police source told our correspondent that information was received from a member of the public around 11 pm that some hoodlums numbering about eight were seen at a pallet area, close to Orile Iganmu under the bridge.

The hoodlums were said to have emerged from under the bridge in a commando style brandishing dangerous weapons such as machetes, broken bottles, sticks, and jack knives to dispossess innocent members of the public of their valuables inside the traffic in the area.

“The DPO of Ijora Badia Division immediately mobilised his patrol team within the area. In the process, they were able to apprehend the duo of one Adura Babatunde aged 28, and one Tunde Omose aged 20 both of no fixed addresses,” the police source said.

The source added that preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested male adults were notorious traffic robbers, terrorising innocent commuters along Orile-Iganmu roads and they have been involved in several traffic robberies in the past.

The culprits were also identified by victims robbed by them sometime last month.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, adding that “investigation is ongoing.”
