Kebbi NLC enforces strike in banks, MDAs
The Kebbi State chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress has embarked on a monitoring campaign in the state to enforce total compliance with the nationwide strike directed by the national headquarters of the union.
The state chairman of the labour union, Murtala Usman, while speaking with our correspondent on the telephone on Tuesday, said his team has been moving around to ascertain the level of compliance.
He explained that due to the late communication of the directive from the NLC, some of the offices, including MDAs, couldn’t receive a memo from their head office on the strike.
“We have to embark on the movement from one office to the other to enforce the strike.
“I am sure you know the information came a bit late, so most of these offices couldn’t receive correspondence from their office about the strike until this morning.
“I can tell you that most of them who just got the information have started to comply with the directive,” he added
The strike comes on the heels of the physical assault that NLC National President Joe Ajaero was subjected to in Imo State two weeks ago.
Despite a National Industrial Court order, the unions, in a statement on Monday, directed workers nationwide to withdraw their services at midnight.
