ISWAP Attacks Borno Again, Set Houses On Fire
Fighters believed to be members of the Islamic State in West Africa Province, ISWAP, are currently attacking residents of Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
A source that spoke on the incident disclosed that the terrorists set houses on fire in Dille village in the Local Government Area.
The source that spoke with Daily Trust on the development noted that the fighters invaded the affected community around 5:30 pm.
He stated that the terrorists stole from stores, carting away food items, adding that they set houses they stole from on fire.
As of the time of filing this report the number of casualties is yet to be known.
This is coming hours after the terrorist group attacked a military base in Askira Uba killing a General and three other military officers.
However, it was disclosed that the army also killed about fifty terrorists after Brig-Gen Dzarma Zirkusu and some soldiers were killed in the weekend attacks.
The spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement, disclosed that troops of 115 Task Force Battalion conducted dawn exploitation towards Leho village and environs.
He noted that troops also discovered corpses of the fleeing terrorists and also recovered 2,560 rounds of 7.62mm Special and 29 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition abandoned by the terrorists.
