Houses, Shops Burnt As ISWAP Attack Borno Community

Fighters of the Islamic State In West Africa Province (ISWAP) have reportedly attacked a community in Borno State.

It was gathered that the terrorists on Monday night destroyed buildings and looted shops in the community.

The fighters attacked Komdi village in the Damboa Local Government Area of the state razing many houses.

A security source told SaharaReporters that “the insurgents in large numbers arrived in the village in pickup vans and motorcycles at about 5pm, shooting heavy artillery.”

The attack by ISWAP reportedly forced residents into their homes as the shooting continued.

He added that the troops overpowered the terrorists in a gun battle, forcing them to flee.

Meanwhile, popular Nigerian Senator, Ali Ndume has recalled how the Federal Government accused and arrested him for allegedly sponsoring terrorism.

Ndume said the Department of State Services (DSS) failed to properly investigate the case against him before labelling him as Boko Haram sponsor and subjecting him to public ridicule.

The Senator representing Borno South in the National Assembly made the submission during an interview on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm on Monday.

He said that the DSS tracked a phone and uncovered a call made by the spokesman of the insurgents to him, adding that the secret police immediately arrested him.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Army, said he reported at the DSS office to clear his name and help with the investigation but was surprised that he was accused of sponsoring terrorism.
